This is our first Christmas in Bangkok.
Even though it’s still 80 degrees outside and no snow, we still wanted to do something Christmassy.
So when my husband found out one of our favorite vegan restaurants was offering a special menu for Christmas, we quickly made a reservation.

Carrots the Vegan Bistro is one of the must-visit vegan restaurants in Bangkok, in my opinion, for many reasons, including their focus on whole-food, cooking from scratch, creativity, great service, and beautiful dining room.

Our table was already set up with two cute Santa hats!

The natural light and the decor make you almost feel like you are outdoors.

I loved this fruit punch.
It was so pretty and perfectly sweet (not overly sweet).
Very refreshing.

Here was the main dish, the festive platter, which included mushroom “meatloaf”, gravy, potato “pavé”, cranberry jam, and veggies.
It was so nice to see and taste the familiar dishes, such as the meatloaf, gravy, and cranberry, which reminded me of how we celebrated holidays in the U.S.

This was described as “Mushroom Meatloaf”, so I assumed the main ingredient was mushroom.
It was full of Umami and was absolutely delicious.

It was nice that they gave us extra gravy.
It was already generously served, but we did enjoy the extra, because it was so good.

I also liked that the platter came with a lot of veggies, including a fun potato dish.
The potato “pavé” was interesting.
According to my quick research “Pavé” means “paving stone” in French and in the culinary world the term is used to describe a square or rectangular (block) food presentation.
Look at the layers!
It was not only pretty but also very tasty.

The dessert was fruit cake.

I loved the strong spice flavors and chunky nuts and dried fruits.

It was a feast perfect to enjoy on Christmas Eve.
