Yesterday after lunch we had this impulsive decision to go out and explore a new neighborhood.
I recently heard about this Song Wat neighborhood as one of the trendiest areas in Bangkok, and we quickly decided that would be our destination.
My husband wanted to check out the Bangkok Train Station nearby, so that made the decision easy, too.
It used to be a trading quarter, and there are still some old spice or dried mushroom shops.
But it’s not hard to find new shops popping up, from fancy bakeries, specialty coffee shops, cafes, salons, to souvenir/home decor shops.
You can find some sophisticated souvenir here for sure.
This is a must-stop if you are in this area.
It sells various home decor stuff, including vintage items.
I loved these celadon cups.
The jade color and small cracks, unique characteristics of celadon ware, were beautiful, and the Thai alphabet handle was so charming.
When I found an office of Rabbit Brand, a Thai’s enamelware maker, I got excited.
But I was not able to see a showroom or a shop, unfortunately.
We stopped at this bun shop for a little snack.
I was surprised that they had plant-based buns available.
And we were ready for a sit-down tea break.
We found Mandarin Tea House by chance, but apparently, it’s a popular place; the reviews are all so positive.
This is Strawberry Rose.
The presentation was so lovely.
And it tasted great too.
This one, I believe, was called Lemon Violet.
It was just “wow!”
Tart and perfectly sweet.
And what a presentation!
This tea house also offers sweets and sweets/tea sets, and based on the pictures on their menu they looked all so lovely.
I would like to go back and try those next time.
This area is full of wall art as well, and you don’t want to miss that.
It’s a compact area, and it was perfect to explore in the late afternoon.
We did visit Bangkok Train Station afterwards.
My husband was happy being able to take some pictures of trains.
If you are interested, it was about a 15-20-minute walk from Song Wat.
