Christmas Dinner at Kynd Kulture – with Lovely Music

This was not planned.

We had a lovely Christmas meal yesterday, and today we were going to go back to our regular schedule.

I was actually planning to check out a Ramen restaurant that I recently found out serves a few vegan ramen options.

But then when I was mindlessly scrolling through pages on social media I ran into this information that Kynd Kulture, one of our favorite plant-based restaurants, was offering a Christmas menu.

It was available until December 30th, but we wanted to have it today, on the 25th, of course, and luckily they still had openings tonight.

The big red bow made the building so festive!

It was decorated with lights inside the building too.

They had a course menu, but we decided to choose items from their à la carte menu.

Berry Christmatcha.

It was so good!

There was berry jam at the bottom, and the combination of matcha and berry was amazing.

There were several kinds of plant-based cheese served on this plate, and it was exceptional!

We really enjoyed it.

Chickpea Edamame Falafel.

Swedish Meatballs.

Warm Broccoli Salad.

It was served over Tzatziki sauce, and I really enjoyed eating the creamy sauce and the chunky vegetables/nuts together.

Sweet Potato Gnocchi.

This was excellent!

The gnocchi were perfectly prepared, and the tomato sauce was delicious.

This was another main dish we ordered, Beetroot Gnocchi Pesto.

This was also amazing!

The color of the beetroot gnocchi was strikingly bright and created such a photogenic dish.

I really liked these gnocchi dishes, and I am hoping they keep them on their regular menu.

Our table was inside, but I wanted to show you that there is an option to dine outdoors on a swing if you like. 🙂

This restaurant is pet-friendly, and they have a lovely yard, where your pet can run around and play.

X’mas Tree Brownie.

You could tell they use quality chocolate.

My husband loved this brownie.

There was a little surprise inside the frosting (🍓).

It was a wonderful meal.

I should also mention that the service and hospitality here are always great, and tonight was not an exception.

Live music!

Ms. Nana had a great voice.

Since it was early for dinner and the dining room was pretty quiet, so we got to have some nice chat.

She kindly asked us what kinds of music we liked, and we requested jazz.

The songs she picked were all our favorites, and her lovely performance made our tonight’s dinner super special.

Ideal Neighborhood Restaurant – Kynd Kulture
近所にあったら嬉しい。

This restaurant has been on our list for a while, and finally we had a chance to visit.

The reviews were great, and we were very excited.

It’s in the lively Ekkamai area, but the restaurant is off of the main street and located on a quiet street, in a residential area.

We didn’t expect that, and it felt really nice to be away from the hustle and bustle.

It was so quiet that we almost forgot that we were in Bangkok.

The restaurant is bright, airy and is a comfortable place.

You can even enjoy your meal on the deck while swinging.

How cool is that!

There is a green space in front of the restaurant, where your pets can play.

That’s right.

It’s a pet-friendly restaurant.

We actually came here to celebrate my husband’s birthday (a little late because we had been too busy getting ready for our trip), and we agreed this smoothie was a great way to start our meal because it was so beautiful.

It was called Zeed & Sour.

The birthday boy chose Tofu Tzatziki Burger.

“Grilled Jackfruit and Smoky Tofu, Homemade Tzatziki and Cheese Sauce on Charcoal Burger Bun”.

Who wouldn’t want that?

We were not disappointed.

It was not only gorgeous but also delicious (I had a bite!).

I had Pumpkin Alfredo, and it was tasty too.

My favorite part of this dish was the piece of cheese served on top.

It had a nice smoky flavor.

I wish I had a bigger piece : ).

There were so many creative items on their menu we wanted to try, so I’m sure we will be back soon and frequently.

It’s the kind of restaurant you hope to have in your neighborhood.

The birthday boy approved too!

And there is more!

The restaurant across from Kynd Kulture was another vegan restaurant!

We just added this place to our “list to try”.

It’s crazy we’ve been finding so many vegan restaurants already!

Hidden Gem – Plant Passion

We found this restaurant by chance, and I’m glad that we did!

For some reason this restaurant does not show up when you google with “vegan restaurant”.

It seems because it is categorized as a “Thai restaurant”.

It’s located inside the same building as Kynd Kulture ( https://sideb.culinarytribune.com/2024/07/28/ ).

That’s how we discovered this restaurant.

It’s a small space with a few tables inside, plus a few outside (in the hallway).

We’ve been to this restaurant a few times already, and I would like to introduce the dishes I liked so far.

Well, actually all the dishes I’ve ordered so far have been all excellent!

This (above pic) Thai Noodle with Coconut Milk was the first dish I tried.

I didn’t know what to expect because I had never had anything like this before, but I was pleasantly surprised.

The beautiful purple noodles came with various veggies, vegan meat, and mango, and a bowl of coconut milk was served on the side.

I didn’t know exactly what I was supposed to do, but I poured the coconut milk over the noodles and mixed everything together.

I loved it so much that I will definitely order it again.

Their Caesar salad is one of my husband’s favorites.

The lettuce is so fresh and it’s served with tomatoes, olives, and crispy vegan bacon.

The dressing is mustard-based and thick, and it dresses the lettuce very well.

This Korean noodle dish is full of flavor and so satisfying.

It’s listed on the appetizer page, but it’s a perfect main dish for me as it comes with so many mushrooms and veggies.

This was another dish I didn’t know what to expect, but it sounded interesting on the menu, and I took the chance.

It was named Rice mixed with shrimp paste.

The flavored rice was so delicious!

It came with three different types of vegan meat, including super tasty “sausage”.

The fragrant vegetables that accompanied the rice included fresh ginger and chopped lime, which gave the whole dish a refreshing taste.

I can’t wait to go back to enjoy this dish again!

You can choose to order a “set” by adding a drink like this butterfly pea tea to your main dish.

And I highly recommend it.

They serve their butterfly pea tea with lemon juice and honey (on the side), and it’s so refreshing.

Where Are We Finding Fun Vegan Food in Bangkok?
バンコク、ヴィーガン食品はどこで見つかる？

There are still a lot more restaurants I want to talk about, but today I want to take a little break from that and talk about shops in Bangkok where we are finding fun vegan food.

Baimiang is one of the shops we like to stop by frequently.

Although their selection does seem to focus mostly on relatively “healthy” food, it’s not a vegan store, so you do need to check the ingredients of each item to make sure what you are getting makes sense for your diet.

My husband likes to get this granola from this shop.

There are several different flavors, but this earl grey tea one is his favorite.

We’ve also tried this vegan brownie.

It was not overly sweet, and it was moist, chocolaty, and very good.

My only complaint was the size; it was quite small (well, to be fair everything seems small when you come from the U.S.!).

I will definitely get this again.

This is a chain store, and I’ve seen at least two locations in the Ekkamai area, including the one inside Gateway Mall.

Lemon Farm is a larger store, which is probably categorized as a small grocery store.

Again, it is not a vegan store, but there are a lot of fun vegan items here.

I really liked this store.

When we had a question, staff tried to explain things in English using the translation function on their cell phone, while keeping a smile on their face the whole time.

They were so sweet!

Here are a few things we found interesting at the store.

Organic Matcha Coconut Ice Cream.

This looked and sounded good!

Vegan yogurt in glass jars!

Plant-based meat.

I’ve never seen this brant, so it’s probably not available in the U.S.

I’m always skeptical about mass-produced vegan meat, but if the ingredients are good, I will try them.

Organic Pumpkin Bread.

This looked good too.

I’m a sucker for anything with pumpkin :).

These are some of the things we bought.

I eat oatmeal for breakfast every morning, and I was happy to see they sold whole oats, because some grocery stores only sell instant/quick oats.

We’ve been there twice already within a week, and I have a feeling that we will be going there regularly.

We found this cute shop when we went to the vegan restaurant, Kynd Kulture, I talked about in my previous post.

It’s in the same building.

I believe the staff said everything in the store was vegan.

We didn’t spend a lot of time here because we were too full after lunch (!), but I would love to pay closer attention to their selection next time we go.
